I was expecting a bit more of the Crystal Stilts EP after hearing their lead off single “Cripple Croon” that saw them combining jangly Troggs guitar with Jesus and Mary Chain distortion, but the rest of the album save for the song “Shattered Shine” seemed a bit lost in sameness. Well they’re back today with a new version of the latter song that seemingly breaks it into being one of the better tracks they’ve released. The new version of Shattered Shine (pretty good description for most of their music, actually) plays out like some bizarre take of The Shondells being fronted by Ian Curtis and produced by Phil Spector, sprinkle in some Dylany harmonica and you’ve got a pretty catchy song…
