51vzh3KtAML._SS500_Pearls Before Swine, an umbrella moniker for songwriter Tom Rapp and various friends, is one of those bands both slipped under the radar and didn’t. By that I mean, its status in the canon of 60’s folk rock is that of demigod to some and to others a mere curiousity or, worse, a nonentity. When I listen to PBS’s debut album One Nation Underground I feel nothing short of elevated. It’s impossible to pin down. One moment you’reĀ  on a pastoral journey through British-folk land, the next you’re on a quirky cavort that’d bring any contemporary hipster to tears. I know many of you have probably worn your Pearls Before Swine records down to dust, but for the others out there, it’s time to dive in and bathe in the world that Tom Rapp creates.
